The money market savings account interest rate was 2.5 percent during the third quarter of 2002. Vendors should partner with investors or pay to repossess Kisekka Market - report

KISEKKA market vendors should either partner with Rhino Investments Ltd to redevelop their market or refund the firm's cash, a new report has suggested.

According to a report into the Kisseka Market wrangles, released on Tuesday, the vendors and KCC should pay off the firm if the former want to retain control over the market. The investigations were conducted at the request of the vendors. Rhino Investments Ltd, a private firm wants to redevelop the market although the vendors are vehemently opposed to it.

The report which was designed by Uganda Transparency Consultants (UTCs), a local consultancy firm, said Rhino Investments – the firm at the centre of the controversy, paid about Shs 2.5 billion to take over the market. The vendors have to raise that money including interest if they are to repossess the market.
